STAFF WRITER 21:38 HRS IST

Kannur/Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 20 (PTI) Bickering between rival coalitions in Kerala over November 7 by-poll in Kannur assembly segment intensified today with Congress-led opposition seeking Election Commission's intervention, while the District Collector sent a report on alleged violation of poll code by Union Minister Vayalar Ravi.

A UDF delegation today met Chief Election Commissioner Naveen Chowla and Election Commissioners in Delhi and asked for the Commission's intervention to ensure free and fair conduct of polls in the politically-sensitive constituency.

While UDF had been alleging that the district officials had remained silent over large-scale enrollment of bogus votes in the seat by the CPI(M), the LDF hit back saying the rival was trying to sabotage the conduct of polls, fearing defeat.

The UDF came out strongly against registering a case against Congress MP from Kannur, K Sudhakaran, for allegedly barging into a Thahasildar's office with his supporters.
