New Delhi, Pct 24 (PTI) Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today criticised Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla for maintaining that Electronic Voting Machines cannot be tampered with.

In the backdrop of some opposition parties raising doubts about the functioning of EVMs, Chawla had said yesterday that the Election Commission was "completely satisfied" with the voting machines.

"The EVMs are under a cloud world over today, and hence voter confidence has to be restored by a constructive attitude," Swamy said in a statement.

He had last month approached the Delhi High Court seeking direction to the Election Commission for incorporation of ballot papers in the EVMs to avoid tampering at the time of polls.
