Idukki (Ker), Oct 24 (PTI) An estate worker was killed and ten others injured in an attack by a swarm of wild honey bees after some trees colonised by them were cut down as part of a re-survey in a power project area in Idduki district, police said today.

The deceased was identified as Chacko (55), who was working in the estate with his colleagues when the bees stung them yesterday, police said.

Severely bitten all over the body, Chacko ran writhing in pain and jumped into a canal to escape but the bees chased him and continued to sting him till he collapsed.

Chacko was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he died soon.

The incident happened when the re-survey was in progress in the area under the Pallivasal Hydro project.
