Cha-Am Hua Hin, Oct 25 (PTI) Myanmar Prime Minister General Thein Sein has told the leaders of East Asian nations that the military junta would consider relaxing the terms of pro-democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi's house arrest if she "maintains a good attitude," according to diplomatic sources.

Thein Sein's remarks came at the summit meeting in the Thai seaside resort here involving the leaders of the 10- member Association of Southeast Asian Nations and those of Japan, China and South Korea, Kyodo news agency quoted ASEAN diplomatic sources as saying.

But the prime minister did not make clear whether the junta would be prepared to release Suu Kyi, who was sentenced to an additional 18 months house arrest in August, in time for her to participate in a general election scheduled for next year -- something that most Myanmar observers see as unlikely.
