Balangir (Orissa), Oct 25 (PTI) Police today held flag march here following large scale violence by a mob over the death of a student in a road accident.

Police said death of another student injured during the violence yesterday at V S S Medical College Hospital this morning prompted them to hold the flag march to prevent any fresh trouble.

As a preventive measure, the district administration has declared closure of all colleges in the district for the next seven days from tomorrow.

A peace meeting was also held in the town.

An engineering student was crushed to death under a police van triggering violence in which a mob torched a local police station and several vehicles yesterday.

The driver of the vehicle had been arrested and suspended. The next of the kin of the victim had been given Rs two lakh as compensation.
