Hua Hin (Thailand), Oct 25 (AFP) Asian countries should club together to boost their influence on the global financial stage and find "co-ordinated positions" ahead of key world meetings, a summit statement said today.

Leaders of 16 countries agreed at the East Asia Summit (EAS) in Thailand that they should try to work out how to increase their influence in important decision-making bodies like the G20.

"Given that six out of the 16 EAS members are members of the G20, it was proposed that the EAS consider ways to entrench the EAS Finance Ministers process into the G20, such as by having them meet prior to the G20 meeting in order to co-ordinate positions," said a statement released after the meeting.
