STAFF WRITER 23:22 HRS IST

Ranchi, Oct 27 (PTI) The Indian Union Muslim League today asked the Election Commission to reschedule the first and last phase of polling as the dates clash with Friday prayers of Muslims.

The League's Jharkhand unit sent a letter to the EC drawing its attention that a large number of people would be deprived of voting if polling on November 27 and December 18 was held as the days coincide with Friday prayers.

It requested the EC to change the dates to enable the Muslim voters cast their votes.

The EC had last week announced a five-phase polling for Jharkhand assembly beginning on November 27.
