STAFF WRITER 10:41 HRS IST

Imphal, Nov 1 (PTI) Seven suspected militants were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Manipur's Imphal East district, police said today.

The encounter took place at around 11.30 pm yesterday between the suspected ultras and Assam Rifles personnel at Andro, about 25 km from here, they said.

However, locals alleged that the seven were picked up from their houses by security personnel and killed.

No senior security official could be contacted to confirm whether those killed were militants, former militants or sympathisers.
