STAFF WRITER 18:10 HRS IST

Gumla (Jharkhand), Nov 2 (PTI) Five activists, including a self-styled zonal commander of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), have been arrested during raids in Gumla's Mandaria Toli village, police said here today.

The raids were launched last night after getting a tip-off that these five rebels were meeting in the village, Superintendent of Police Narendra Kumar Singh told newsmen.

The police caught Viswanath Ganju alias Visleshanji, the TPC's self-styled zonal commander, Johnson Ekka, Sanjay Minz and Abas Ekka during the operation, he said and added two rifles, a country-made pistol, four bullets, two handsets, TPC letter-heads and a diary were seized from them.

The TPC is a breakaway group of the CPI (Maoist) and is engaged in a turf war with the Maoists in the area for the last couple of years.
