STAFF WRITER 16:18 HRS IST

Chandigarh, Nov 4(PTI) Indian National Lok Dal president Om Parkash Chautala today resigned from Ellenabad assembly constituency in Haryana.

Haryana Assembly Speaker HS Chatha accepted Chautala's resignation and declared Ellenabad seat as vacant, an assembly spokesman said here.

In the recently concluded assembly elections, Chautala had won from two constituencies of Uchanna Kalan in Jind district and Ellenabad in his home district of Sirsa.

Chautala will retain Uchana Kalan assembly seat, which he won by defeating former finance minister and senior Congress leader Birendra Singh.

The assembly secretariat has requested the Election Commission of India to take steps to fill the Ellenabad seat, the spokesman said.
