STAFF WRITER 16:42 HRS IST

Patna, Nov 4 (PTI) Ten persons were injured here as police resorted to lathicharge and burst teargas shells to disperse agitating employees of fair price dealers' shops today.

Hundreds of employees of the fair price dealers from across the state, brought out a procession on Bailey Road, led by their association leader Srikant Labh and later blocked the busy Dak Bungalow Road, official sources said.

As the agitators refused to budge despite requests by the security men, baton-wielding policemen swung into action.

They also used water cannons and burst teargas shells to disperse the crowd.

Ten employees suffered injuries and were admitted to nearby hospitals or nursing homes, the sources said.

The employees were demanding to be treated as government employees and monthly payment to them.

They also wanted to meet with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to air their grievances. Seven agitators were arrested by police in connection with the clash.
