STAFF WRITER 20:16 HRS IST

Guwahati, Nov 4 (PTI) The banned ULFA today claimed that two of its top leaders Sasadhar Choudhury and Chitrabon Hazarika, both currently in Bangladesh, have been taken away by unidentified persons in civil clothes.

In a statement, the group's 'military spokesman' Raju Barua claimed that on the intervening night of November one and two, about seven to eight persons in civil clothes took away the duo from a house at Sector 3 of posh Uttara locality in Dhaka where one of them was living with his family.

The persons refused to divulge their identity but claimed that they have been "sent by higher authorities to bring the duo for questioning" and also searched the house.

"We are not aware about the whereabouts about our leaders but we suspect that they have been handed over to India and this is not acceptable as Bangladesh does not have an extradition treaty with India," Barua claimed.
