STAFF WRITER 22:27 HRS IST

Bhubaneswar, Nov 4 (PTI) A five-member MP delegation of BJP today arrived here to make an on-the spot inquiry into the alleged multi-crore mining scam in Orissa and announced that it would be raised by the party in the winter session of Parliament.

The delegation led by Balbir Punj left for Keonjhar district to verify alleged theft and smuggling of iron ore and manganese from Joda and Barbil area.

"We will raise the issue in both the Houses of Parliament. What has happened here need to be throughly probed by the CBI," said Punj contending that the probe by the state anti-corruption wing was insufficient.

Claiming that the theft and smuggling of mineral were not possible without patronage of the ruling party, Punj said that the state investigation agency had detected involvement of some junior officials while their political masters were left free.
