Srinagar, Nov 5 (PTI) Two girls attempted suicide at Srinagar and Baramulla districts today, police said.

Asmat Ayub (16) sustained severe burn injuries as she attempted to end her life by setting herself on fire at her residence in Rainawari locality of Srinagar, they said adding, the girl was rushed to the hospital.

Another girl identified as Tasleema Akhter, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her home at Rawatpora-Tangmarg, 50 kms from here in Baramulla district.

She has been admitted to SMHS Srinagar, police said.

Meanwhile, police recovered body of a person from a house in downtown Srinagar.

The body identified that of Ajaz Ahmad Mir, a resident of Mohra-Uri, was recovered from the house of late Bashir Ahmad Ddada at Reshi Mohalla-Habbakadal, police said.

Proceedings under section 174 have been initiated in this case, the police said.
