STAFF WRITER 21:16 HRS IST

Kolkata, Nov 6 (PTI) Bengal are on the threshold of an innings victory over Hyderabad by reducing the visitors to 158 for 8 in their second innings today, after taking a first innings lead of 238 in the C K Nayudu cricket tournament here.

In reply to Hyderabad's first innings score of 142, Bengal made 380 to secure a lead of 238 at Jadavpur University's Salt Lake ground here.

To add to the visitors' woes, one of their key batsmen Benzamin Thomas is unlikely to bat as he injured his leg during the match.

Resuming at their overnight score of 299 for seven, Bengal added 81 runs before they were all out. Three lower order batsmen -- Soumay Pakrey (42), Amit Banerjee (29) and Ashrafuddin (25) -- contributed largely to the total.

Bengal bowlers then did a good job in restricting the visiting batsmen.
