Barwah (MP), Nov 7 (PTI) The mortal remains of veteran journalist Prabhash Joshi were consigned to flames today on the banks of Narmada river here in the presence of a large number of dignitaries.

The 72-year-old scribe, whose body was brought to Indore by a plane yesterday from New Delhi and kept in his house at Moti Tabela area, had died of a heart attack in Ghaziabad on Thursday night.

The funeral pyre was lit by his elder son Sandeep Joshi.

Prominent among those present on the occasion were former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Suresh Pachouri, former BJP leader K N Govindacharya, social activist Swami Agnivesh, journalists Ram Bahudar Rai and Rahul Dev.

Achyutanand Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of the Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism, with which Joshi had been associated, was also present.
