New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI)
Come January, Delhiites will have the opportunity to watch a classical French opera with a "typical Bollywood flavour" -- thanks to an Indo-French collaborative effort that aims at creating an amalgam of musical traditions of both the countries.

"If I Were King", or "Si j'etais roi", an opera in three acts set in the 16th century Goa, was written by French maestro Adolphe Adam in 1852 and first performed at the Theatre Lyrique in Paris the same year.

The Neemrana Music Foundation along with 2J Prod, Paris, was bringing the show to India. It will be staged in Delhi for three days -- January 12, 14 and 15 -- under the 'Bonjour India' events organised by the French embassy.

"The uniqueness of If I Were King is that not only the story is set in India, it has a typical Bollywood flavour.
