Panaji, Nov 11 (PTI) Several trawlers have gone missing off-Goa coast due to strong winds following deep depression in the Arabian Sea, Indian Coast Guard officials said here today.

"We are receiving messages of many trawlers missing off-Goa coast and we have commissioned our aircraft for search and rescue operations," Commandant A K Saxena told PTI.

He said that the exact number of trawlers missing will be quantified only later in the day.

However, officials from the State Fisheries department said that two trawlers with six men on board are missing from Betul jetty in South Goa.

The trawlers, which fish in the areas five kilometres away from the shores got caught up in the squally winds that hit the Western Coast last evening.

Earlier, one of the trawler which was carried away with the wind from Karnataka coast was rescued by fishermen and brought to Betul jetty.
