RIMS introduces surgical retina facility, first of its kind in any Jharkhand govt hospital

Ranchi, May 26 (PTI) The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here has introduced surgical retina facility, the first of its kind in any government hospital in Jharkhand, an official said on Friday.

"A new dimension to the Department of Ophthalmology, Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), RIMS was added on Thursday. Vitreo Retinal surgery was performed in 5 patients.The cost of surgery for retina is very expensive. This facility of surgical retina is going to provide the patients surgery at a nominal cost," the official said.

The surgeries were performed by Associate Professor, RIMS, Dr Rahul Prasad and his unit.
