Mumbai, Feb 3 (PTI) Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha's banner Benaras Mediaworks and Bhushan Kumar-led T-Series have inked a deal with Reliance Entertainment for the distribution of their slate of upcoming titles, including Hansal Mehta-directed "Faraaz" and Sudhir Mishra's "Afwaah", in the overseas market.

"Faraaz", which was released in theatres on Friday, is the first project to be distributed by Reliance Entertainment, a press release stated.

A tense hostage drama, the movie is based on the 2016 terrorist attack that ravaged a Dhaka Cafe. It features Zahan Kapoor, Aditya Rawal and Juhi Babbar Soni.

Post "Faraaz", Mishra’s latest directorial venture “Afwaah”, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar, will be released by Reliance.

The studio will also distribute Sinha's upcoming film "Bheed", which stars Rajkummar Rao and Pednekar.

Described as a story that sheds light on the social disparity that the country faced in the toughest of times, the movie will make its debut in theatres on March 24. It also features Pankaj Kapur, Ashutosh Rana and Dia Mirza.

"We are delighted to join hands with Reliance Entertainment for the overseas release of our films. This gives us an opportunity to ensure that the messaging within all our films reaches out to a larger & more diverse audience," Sinha, founder and managing director of Benaras Mediaworks, said in a statement.

Kumar of T-Series said he is extremely happy with the banner's association with Reliance Entertainment.

"It makes me even happier that as a team, T-Series is taking rapid strides at making Indian entertainment available to the global audience. There’s more to come, and I hope we continue to strive and achieve even greater heights in the coming years," he added.

Dhruv Sinha, Head Overseas Businesses at Reliance Entertainment, said the company is glad to partner with T-Series and Benaras Mediaworks.

"We will be using specific focused release strategies that are content specific to films produced by Benaras demands. With a changing audience taste this is the need of the hour and we recognize it.

"Additionally this collaboration will not only give us an opportunity to strengthen our existing partnerships with T Series and Benaras, but will also extend to other independent filmmakers and production houses in exploiting their films to their fullest distribution potential," he added. PTI RB.
